■Brief Commentary

00. tonya_harding / intro 01. kamome sano / lovesick (feat. Punipunidenki)
The compilation series that includes track 01 is an outstanding collection of speed garage and 2-step tracks. It’s so good that I feel compelled to include at least one track from it in every future DJ set or mix. While it could have been the opening track, I wanted to create a quick intro that captures the summer energy and intent behind this mix.

02. Nogizaka46 / Gomenne Fingers crossed (tonya_harding Remix)
This is a bootleg remix I made a while ago. If you like it and want to use it in your DJ set or just want to hear the track, feel free to reach out to me. Nowadays, I’m a big fan of Sakura Endo, but when she first joined, I didn’t quite get her appeal. That changed when I saw the music video and realized how well she fit as the center. I enjoy bass music, but I wasn’t sure where to start with learning it, so I just followed my instincts and created this remix. It’s far from perfect compared to more polished works, but I’m proud of it and think it has elements that only I could bring out.

03. Nogizaka46 / Moshimo Kokoro ga Toumei nara
04. V.A. / Ishindenshin vs Dr. MARIO
05. Rino Oishi / Momo Donburi
Track 03 is one of my favorites from Nogizaka46’s more recent (though it’s already three years old) songs. After speeding up the remix of “Gomenne Fingers crossed” by over 10 BPM, I had a hard time finding a song that matched it, but this one fit perfectly. I wish I could have seen it live with the original members. The interesting riff in this song made me want to keep the upbeat momentum going, so I threw together a mashup for track 04. Track 05 is a quirky yet iconic song by Rino Oishi, who I’ve been indebted to for a long time. I even dropped by the music video shoot for this track—it was wild.

06. Namie Amuro / Dr.
07. Nami Tamaki / Believe
08. Arashi / truth
No explanation needed for these tracks. I wanted to create a more serious flow, and these legendary songs do just that. Track 06 still amazes me every time I listen to it.

09. ClariS / PRIMALove
10. Electric Ribbon / Dengeki Electric 2000
11. Noriyuki Makihara / SPY
12. Sakura Shinguji (Chisa Yokoyama) & Teikoku Kagekidan / Geki! Teikoku Kagekidan
Including a chill vibe in this DJ mix was a given, but I needed to figure out how to build up to it. I transitioned from a serious four-on-the-floor beat to a happy vibe with ClariS, followed by a brilliant track from the newly restructured Electric Ribbon. Track 11 by Makihara, both a masterpiece and a peculiar tune, adds an eerie atmosphere before track 12 unleashes the beat while keeping it intact.

13. Yutaka Ozaki / Taiyou no Hakuen
14. TOMOO / Cinderella
15. Tatsuro Yamashita / FOREVER MINE
16. Mariya Takeuchi / every night
17. Kei Sugawara / zoo
18. Mone Kamishiraishi / Yoake o Kuchizusame Tara
19. amazarashi / Inochi ni Fusawashii
Here’s a long chill time. With summers becoming dangerously hot in recent years, taking a break to cool down is essential. Track 14 is a great song, and I realized the riff sounded familiar—it was the outro of “Taiyou no Hakuen.” Though it wasn’t intended as an homage, I made the connection and expressed it that way. While some might struggle to enjoy the music or visuals of creators based on their personal history, I believe there are things we don’t need to know, and what’s true is often unclear to others. I’ll keep listening to their music. Tracks 17 and 18 bring a refreshing feel, and track 19 hints at the return of the beat, shifting from chill to a heavier atmosphere.

20. BUMP OF CHICKEN / Acacia
21. Maharajan / Kurabetemo Shouganai
22. Airi Miyakawa / Kimi to Soda
The beat returns, but I wanted to maintain a refreshing vibe with these tracks.

23. Hermann H. & The Pacemakers / One, Two, Three, Four
24. APOGEE / Rain Rain Rain
These two tracks are from my university circle—one is from an upperclassman. Even now, they sound great, and I always knew they had talent.

25. Kana Adachi / Seeker
26. Akaikouen / NOW ON AIR
27. Hatsutsu Yu / Who are
28. Sukima Switch / Garana
29. TOMOO / Awai ni
I arranged these tracks to create an energetic and pop flow.

30. Kyoko Saito (Hinatazaka46) / Shinjau Kurai, Dakishimete
31. WANDS / Dakiyose Takamaru Kimi no Taion to Tomo ni
32. Ryokuoushoku Shakai / Summertime Cinderella
I wanted to express an unreal summer, with an idol-like vibe. The composer and arranger of track 30, Genshi Miyano, was terrifyingly good at crafting songs that resonate with the souls of older generations. WANDS remains eternal idols. The guitar solo by Shibasaki-san comes in late, but it’s worth the wait. The climax of “Summertime Cinderella” connects perfectly with the piano. I was blown away when I first heard this track—such an impeccable pop song emerging in the Reiwa era. Ideally, summer would end here.

33. nuance / Time Magic Lonely
34. meme tokyo / Anti-Suggest (Kabanagu & hirihiri Remix)
35. Maison book girl / Umibe nite
Track 33 rewinds summer a bit. I questioned if it was acceptable not to end with “Summertime Cinderella,” but that’s the beauty of creative expression—you can challenge expectations. I learned about this track from an idol group that had performed with nuance, and I was amazed by its brilliance. It might be over the top, but resisting the end of summer through this rewind felt right to me. Track 34 is a jaw-dropping remix—while it might be tricky to use in a typical JPOP DJ set, it’s a perfect blend of bass music and JPOP, and it opened new doors for me. I’m glad I could include “Electric Ribbon / Dengeki Electric 2000” and “Maison book girl / Umibe nite” in this mix.

36. BE
/ Shining One
37. tonya_harding / joy time people (Sayonara wa Egao de Remix by fu_mou)
BE
has so many good songs, but for this flow, “Shining One” was the obvious choice. Thanks to fu_mou for remixing track 37—it’s helped introduce tonya_harding to many new listeners.

38. Yusuke Ueno / Shining feat. Chihiro Nakamura
39. hide / GOOD BYE
I discovered this incredible track through my connection with The Forbidden Mass Decision. As I clung to the last bits of summer, this mix finally winds down with this track. And with track 39, I hope everyone can enjoy another summer next year.

This is a separate announcement from my DJ activities, but I’ve uploaded the music video for “inside human body” by the unit “Rehabilitation,” featuring Prestige Kato, on YouTube. Please take a moment to watch it as well.
