Vinyl Memories: Rediscovering My Long-Lost Latin House DJ Mix

Under the #捨てレコ (The Records I Couldn’t Let Go) tag, I introduced two records: Mundo Azul – Sereia and Cricco Castelli – Life is Changing.

I had always thought that somewhere, there must be a DJ mix that includes these tracks. Most of my PCs and hard drives were broken or discarded, but…

Then, I suddenly remembered from an old blog post—

That’s right, about 14 years ago, I had actually released it as a MIX CD. It was a Latin house-only DJ mix, recorded entirely from analog vinyl. The jacket photo was taken during a family trip to Hawaii.

Back then, I was DJing at a rather terribly named yet incredibly fun party called sexcity, where we freely distributed DJ mixes and sold various merch.

The DJ lineup included SEX Yamaguchi (Sekuyama), Matsumoto Hisataakaa, mascotboy, and myself. Our VJ was the young Kazuki Honma .

A big thank you to Mandokoro Takano from the Acid Panda Café Jiyugaoka era, who first brought us together. We also had Tengal6 (before their rebranding to lyrical school) perform in their early days.

My own MIX CDs were placed in various shops, including record stores and general merchandise shops.

A few years after leaving sexcity, I uploaded this DJ mix to MediaFire. I assumed the link had long since expired—it’s been over 10 years! But surprisingly, it’s still alive.

This mix is packed with everything from the serious side of Latin house to its most upbeat and lively elements. Give it a listen if you’d like!
